As a Maid Service Provider, have you ever arrived to a customer's house, you've bid for a particular amount of time, or a specific task, and you arrive, and there's extra work needed? What in the world do you do?
All right, now that is a sneaky question, since we have allotted a particular amount of time based on a person's house when we went to bid the initial contract? Now, when you get to a consumer's home, and it's actually important to do this up front, when you get to a consumer's house and you're walking through the house with the homeowner. You need to ask the client about this concern, "Did you just get your house before I got here, or is your house usually in this condition? If I provide you a price based on this condition of your house, when I get here each time to clean up, I expect the house to be in this condition.
If I arrive and there's spaghetti all over the cooking area, or if there are toys all over the house, or there's laundry and stuff tossed about, there's clutter all over, it's going to take a lot more time than I'm bidding for today. On the occasion that I get here and the house is just trashed for whatever reason, and in some cases it occurs, I either have to charge you more of a higher rate, or I need to simply pick up the mess and let that be the cleaning of the day. Which is it?" And let the client decide. Since the client sometimes will state, "I would rather you pick up the clutter, since in some cases my house is simply a mess, and I don't have time to clean it up." There are other customers that state, "I don't want to pay extra money to have you come at your rate and pick up my mess." All right, then from day one, let's agree that when I arrive, your house will remain in this condition. You need to have that conversation because if you're appearing now, and the house keeps getting messier and messier, either the baby-sitter has to pick up the toys, or the property owner has to pick up the toys, or the kid whose toys they belong to need to pick up the toys.
I don't truly care who it is, however unless they have particularly contracted you to select up the clutter, then that needs to be a discussion that you have with the house owner, because no one is paying you right now to choose up the mess, click here and you have another home to clean when you're done here. If you have 2 or three houses in a day, whether you admit it or not, it's on a timed schedule.
When the time for that home is up, you can't keep remaining and cleaning, since you will lose profits from the next house you're expected to go clean. Does that make sense? You do have to have a conversation with the customer, and just say, "Hey, listen. When I bid the task, your home was in this condition, and now click here for more that I've shown up, always there's extra clutter. It's requiring time that I don't have.
I did not budget the clutter time into the task and the rate that I gave you. Now, a lot of people when you provide them the choice, they do not want to pay the additional money, due to the fact that house cleansing is not cheap, and they can cheaply pick up their own toys, or teach their children to put things away after they're done. It is a found out skill, and it's something a parent can find out and teach their children, and their children can discover it without the moms and dads having to pay the home cleaner that additional cash.
